In the Spotlight

In the Spotlight

In 2023 with the increased activity in the world of stone sculpture in the greater Taos area, TJ invited other stone sculptors to exhibit in the landscape at Studio Santiago and Gallery in Taos.

Beginning in November 2024, READING ART, which was started to spotlight the sculptures of artist/sculptor TJ Mabrey will expand to include others.

Each month a spotlight will be presented on the creative work done by stone carvers who live, work, teach, exhibit and contribute to the vibrant activity seen in the stone carving community of Taos and environs of Northern New Mexico.

SCHUYLER BLANCHARD

Introduction by Rebekah Powers

This “call to adventure” led him to the foothills of the Sangre de Christo mountains of New Mexico. “I felt drawn to the mountains, closer to strata and untouched stone. My intention is to undertake a more direct sculptural conversation that is often not permitted by representational sculpture."
